Lockdown Update- 22nd February

Hello, everybody. So our great leader has spoken. And it’s the 12th of April we can with all being well re-open.

Fortunately, as many of you know, we have a strategy of letting people book while in lockdowns, and we keep rescheduling till we are open so many of you already have appointments booked.


We will keep moving those people until we do reopen. The main change now is we have got a deadline, we have got an open date, which is the 12th of April.

What will happen is that we can’t do everybody in the first week.

It can’t be done.

So what I’m going to do is I’m going to move people as the appointments come up, as we have been doing, and try and get as many people into that first four weeks.

You’ve got to understand, though, we can’t do everybody in one go. And I am going to adopt personally a slightly different approach than I have in previous lockdowns.

In previous lockdowns. My thought which proved to be correct was that we would open and probably get locked down again. That happened; we were only open three months when we opened in July.

To October, we locked down in November.
We opened in December. And then we’ve locked down again at the end of December to where we are now.

So it’s always been about trying to get everybody done before we got locked down.

With this time, I feel that we are reopening pretty much for the long term. And I think for my well being, I’m not going to try to fit everybody in, in a very condensed period. I know the view probably is where you’ve been sitting around for all these months doing nothing. But the analogy I would use is that if you’ve had to rest for two weeks running a marathon still hard.

And when I’ve come back to work in subsequent lockdowns, it’s been very, very stressful.
I don’t want you to feel sorry for me, that’s just the reality, working 15/16 hour days, and I don’t think that I do my best work with 15/16 hour days.

I don’t think anybody would.

So when I return, I’m going to work hard. But I’m not going to work Sundays; I’m not going to work ridiculously late, I will do some early and I might do a few Mondays.

So the outcome of that is it will take a little bit longer to work through the backlog.

But we will get there.

And after that backlog, we should be back into a normal scenario.

Now that doesn’t mean I’m going to go on any go slow.

And I’m sure Claire isn’t. But it’s going to be a little bit more managed than previous times. So if you can bear with us, please.

You’ve all been brilliant. Hopefully, you’ve appreciated that we’re trying to manage it by moving your bookings along.

So we will contact you and move those bookings ahead. And obviously, we will be mindful of the fact that it’s the 12th of April.

But please also be aware that we’re not all going to get it done on the 15th or 16th and 17.

If you haven’t got an appointment, you can’t make one online, so please contact me. And we will book you in.

The bottom line is everybody will have an appointment. Everybody will have an appointment as close as we can get. Not everybody will get it down on the day.

Everybody logically understands that emotionally. I think in January, February, I don’t think anyone’s been that bothered. I think usually it’s quite a quiet time of year anyway. But as we move into March, people’s hair is getting longer. And now we’re going to be moving into spring. I think people will start to think I need my hair doing so; obviously, it’s going to go up a notch.

And I want to manage it for all of you. And just so that you can understand that I’m going to manage it for myself and Claire, so that we’re working hard. But we’re working smart.

As I say, hopefully, you can appreciate we’re trying our best to be as efficient as possible.

But efficient doesn’t always mean that we can do everybody all at once, sadly.
